The Beijing Declaration refers to the World Conference on Women, held in 1995 in Beijing, in which several countries came together to establish a platform of actions with the aim of “developing strategies for the Advancement of Women in removing all obstacles for active women, participation in all spheres of public and private life through full and equal participation in economic, social, cultural and political decision-making.”
According to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) website, it is the “most visionary agenda for achieving gender equality” .
The document discusses the most diverse aspects ranging from access to education, equal professional opportunities, to issues related to violence and gender discrimination.
